Activists of the State Indian Youth Congress (IYC) were detained by the police on Monday during the protest against Raghubar Das Government about poor supply of electricity and water in the State.
Around 200 activists of the State IYC, including National Secretary Jharkhand Incharge Dipak Mishra and the State president Kumar Gaurav IYC, were marching towards Chief Minister Raghubar Das residence at 12 o’clock in the day from Mohrabadi ground when they were detained.
Jharkhand State Youth Congress Committee staged protest and tried to gheroed residence of the CM for their demands such as uninterrupted water and electricity, for the protection tribal’s water, forest and land. They demanded that the government should provide 24 hours uninterrupted electricity, employment for youth, house for homeless, good education for poor and attorocities on tribal should be prevented at its earliest.
A large numbers of workers of State Congress Committee were present on the occasion including Congress Legislature Party Leader, Alamgir Alam, Pradesh Mahila Congress Morcha president Gunjan Singh and others.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion State IYC president Kumar Gourav said that if the government will not listen our demands then we will intensify our agitation.
As following the humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, opposition parties have started holding extensive protests against the ruling Government’s alleged failure in providing civic amenities and security to the people of Jharkhand. With assembly elections slated later this year, the growing protests may help the parties garner support of voters on road to polls.
Just couple of days earlier Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) against protested at Ranchi Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office against the poor condition of electricity and water supply in the cities.
