Railway Station remains sans metal detectors

Monday, 22 April 2019 | PNS | DEHRADUN

With the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2019 and the alleged threat issued recently purportedly by the Pakistan based

terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) to blow up several railway stations in the state the security has been tightened by the authorities at railway stations.

However, the absence of metal detectors in Dehradun railway station appears to be a lapse in the security. Station Superintendent Sitaram Sonkar said, “It has been more than one and half year since the metal detectors have stopped functioning here.

Though the Railway Protection Force sent the requirement of metal detectors immediately, the same has not been given yet.” It is important to mention here that RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) have been conducting routine checking in railway station since the polling dates were announced by the election commission.
