Acting on a tip off received by Ranchi Rural Superintendent of Police, Ashutosh Shekhar on Sunday, Ranchi District police arrested three persons with three and a half kilogram of opium.
Addressing a press meet, Shekhar informed that the Police received the information that some opium peddlers were travelling by bus from Khunti to Ranchi.
A special team was constituted to intercept the peddlers while they were on their way to the State capital. “Acting swiftly on the information, we constituted a Police team in leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police, Amit Kumar Renu. The team was deployed on the road and it stopped the bus at around 10.45am. During the search, the Police recovered Opium of three and half kilogram and arrested three persons, including gang’s mastermind Litte Munda,” said Shekhar.
Munda, he said was around 25 year-old and a resident of Meral Village under Pathalgadha Police Station in Chatra District.
The other two have been identified as Karam Singh Munda (20) and Ambika Dangi (50). Karam Singh is also a resident of Meral Village, while Dangi is a resident of Tetaria Village under Pathalgadha Police Station of Chatra District, said Shekhar.
