Uttarakhand lost yet another of its sons on Saturday when Lance Naik Sandip Thapa, a resident of Rajawala, Sahaspur in Dehradun, attained martyrdom in Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. As per the reports received here, Pakistan troops indulged in ceasefire violation along the LOC on Saturday. In the Pakistan firing in Naushera sector of Rajori, in Jammu and Kashmir, 35-year-old Sandip Thapa of 3/5 Gorkha Rifles attained martyrdom. A pall of gloom descended in the family and the neighbourhood when the news of death of Thapa arrived in Dehrdun.
Expressing deep anguish and sorrow on martyrdom of Sandip Thapa, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat, said that the people of the State are standing with the family of the martyr. Praying for peace of the departed soul, Rawat said that the State Government would provide every possible help to the family of Sandip Thapa.
The Speaker of Uttarakhand Assembly Premchand Agarwal has also expressed grief on the death of Sandip Thapa. In a message, he said that the brave-heart from Uttarakhand has sacrificed his life for the nation and the people of the nation would always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice.
