Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the sluggish growth of economy in the October-December quarter.
In a tweet on Friday, Akhilesh said, “Kheti, udyog, dukandari, karobar sab badhaal, nahi chahiye jumle wali sarkar” (agriculture, industry, trade and business are in doldrums, we do not need a government of slogans).
The SP chief said that in Modi’s rule, all sectors of the economy had suffered, be it manufacturing, domestic and foreign trade. He said job creation had also suffered badly during the last five years.
A few days back, Akhilesh had criticised Modi for addressing Bharatiya Janata Party’s booth level workers through video conferencing at a time when the country was facing a war-like situation.
As per data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Thursday, Indian economy grew at the slowest pace at 6.6 percent in October-December quarter, the third quarter of the current fiscal 2018-19.
The overall GDP growth estimate for 2018-19 was also revised to a five-year low at 7 per cent as per the second advance estimate released by the government, against a 7.2 percent growth estimated in first advance estimate of the full year released on January 7.
