State progressing fast under Raghubar Govt: Yadav

Saturday, 17 August 2019 | Roshan Kumar | Ranchi

Nand Kishore Yadav, one the known and biggest faces of BJP in Bihar last week was appointed as election co in-charge of BJP in poll bound Jharkhand. Yadav, who is presently the road construction minister in Nitish Kumar’s Cabinet had also served as state unit president of BJP in Bihar. When JDU parted ways from NDA forming government with RJD and Congress, Yadav was made the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly. As a Leader of Opposition he left no chances to attack Nitish Kumar’s Government. In an interview with The Pioneer, Nand Kishore Yadav talks on various issue ranging from BJP prospects in Jharkhand to alliance with JDU and future prospects of RJD and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.

What are prospects of BJP in year-end Assembly election? Do you think that Mahagahthbnadhan is going to pose any threat to BJP in Assembly election?

In Jharkhand it is immaterial for us who are contesting against BJP candidates.  We are focused on strengthening the party and for this a membership drive is going on.  The party leaders have been given the target to make 25 lakh members. Focus is to make members from all sections of society, as our party’ motto is Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas and Sabka Viswas. In Lok Sabha election the people’s mandate was against the Mahagathbandhan and in Assembly election too people will reject Mahagathbandhan, which is an alliance of opportunist parties.

Has the party prepared any strategy or plans for making 25 lakh members in State?

The membership drive started few months back and under this the party has set a target of enrolling 25 lakh new members. All leaders irrespective of the post they hold have been directed to participate at the membership drive. All senior leaders have been asked to hold camps at mandal level and during the stay at mandal level they have been asked to reach out to people at booth level. Also MLAs, district presidents and heads of various manchs and morchas have been given the task to achieve the targets.

There are reports that Amit Shah will be party’s face in the year end Assembly election in three states including Jharkhand, which means that party will not go in election with the face of Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

Amit Shah is our national president. Every election, which the BJP contest is under his leadership and there is no confusion on his leadership. But, I have not heard that party will go to poll without any face in Jharkhand. Under the leadership of Raghubar Das the state is witnessing all round development in all spheres. Jharkhand is progressing due to double engine government at centre and state.

JDU is your alliance partner in Bihar, but in Jharkhand the party has announced to contest the poll independently. Don’t you think that there is contradiction in JDU’s stand?

Our alliance with JDU is limited in Bihar. In Bihar we have joined hands on the issue of development and keeping away RJD and other parties which have looted public money in Jharkhand. JDU is one of our oldest alliance partners for more than two decades. Only for a brief period of fifteen sixteen months, JDU parted ways with NDA. Bihar is witnessing all round development due to development works initiated by NDA government lead by Nitish Kumar. Like other national parties JDU too has its stand on national issue.

The Assembly election in Bihar is next year, do you think that RJD and Tejashwi Yadav has any threat to NDA?

There is no future left for RJD in Bihar. The people of Bihar have rejected the opportunist and dynastic parties. RJD will face the same feat which it faced in Jharkhand. In Bihar too RJD will be divided.
