More than 2,000 students of 52 colleges of Delhi University, JNU and JMI University attended the VVPAT awareness session organised by District Magistrate (East) in collaboration with Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) in North Campus on Saturday.
The students and faculty members of Delhi University were imparted awareness about the functioning of EVM & VVPAT. Further they were provided with the real EVM & VVPAT for hands-on experience about the voting process for the forth coming Lok Sabha Election-2019.
In the first of its nature activity of District ElectionOffice with the Delhi University and Delhi University Student Union (DUSU), K Mahesh, District Magistrate (East) in his welcome address appealed to the students to get enrolled in the electoral roll and become informed and ethical electors.
The Chief Guest and Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, Dr Ranbir Singh, said, “I am lucky to interact with such lively students and I request the students to enroll in the electoral roll at the first instance and spread the message in neighbourhood to become an informed and ethical elector.”
The CEO has appealed to the students to increase the electors of 18-19 years from the low number of 1, 00,000 to at least 6 lakhs by the active and effective contribution of students.
