Ever since the bill against triple Talaq was passed in the Parliament such cases are getting highlighted in the Haridwar district. In the past one month eight cases have come to light including three recent cases from Laksar Tehsil.

The recent one was on account of giving birth to the third girl child after which the husband of a Muslim lady allegedly tortured his wife and expelled her from the house, following which the victim lodged a complaint in the police station. Not getting positive response from the local police she took the support of court of law. On the basis of court orders, the woman protection officer has recorded the statements of the victim woman.

One Gulshan Jahan, resident of Kheri Khurd village under the jurisdiction of Laksar police station was married to a man from Patelnagar in Dehradun six years ago. The woman has alleged that her husband lost much of his money in gambling and many times Gulshan helped run the family by taking money from her parents. She gave birth to two girls which irked the in laws of Gulshan. On the birth of third girl child her in-laws and husband evicted her from home after triple talaq. The lawyer of the victim, Chaudhary Bhoop Singh said that following the court orders, the child welfare officer acting as the woman protection officer, recorded the statement of Gulshan Jahan and the report has been produced before the court.

In another incident on account of domestic violence, a youth allegedly divorced his wife after uttering Talaq thrice.  Following complaint by the brother of the victim woman, police have lodged the case against six persons of the family. Jamsheeda was married to Rizwan of Kutubpur village in 2010. She has two children. It is alleged that husband of Jamsheeda was misbehaving with her. On August 16, when brother of Jamsheeda tried to pacify Rizwan he allegedly divorced her uttering Talaq thrice.  On Saturday another incident appeared wherein a woman named Sabra in Sultanpur was evicted from home by her in-laws allegedly miffed at not receiving a car in dowry.
