Chhattisgarh state assembly will hold a two-day special session on October 2 and 3, 2019 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. There will be no other proceeding except for holding discussion on ‘Gandhi Darshan’ and topics related to Gandhiji.
Chhattisgarh Assembly secretary Chandrashekar Gangrade said a formal meeting to hold the session was held at the residence of Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant on Wednesday. The notification for the special session will be issued within a day or two. This was the first meeting so the final programme has not been chalked out yet, he added.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Parliamentary Affairs minister Ravindra Choubey, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik and others participated in the meeting.
Kaushik when contacted said it was a formal meeting as earlier also the demand was raised for holding an event in Chhattisgarh to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, as the whole country will be celebrating it.
The special session will discuss on the personality of Gandhiji and pay gratitude for his contribution to the country, he said.
