For collaborative learning programmes, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Law (U Law) United Kingdom (UK) on Tuesday. The UPES is celebrating the year 2019 as ‘Year of Internationality.
Speaking to the gathering at the Convention on “Changing Paradigms in Legal Domain — Challenges and Opportunities”, the Chief Guest and former chief secretary of Uttarakhand Indu Kumar Pande said, “Redundancy of Law needs to be regularly addressed with the passage of time as they become irrelevant quite rapidly in the over-dynamic environment of this day and age”. He also strongly advocated use of technology to assist professional of the legal fraternity.
Senior Director, UPES, Arun Dhand said The University of Law is one of the oldest established provider of specialised legal education and training institutes in the UK with its campuses in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, Guildford, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham. The university has an international campus in Hong Kong.
He said U Law’s market-leading employability service gives students access to work experience, pro bono opportunities and legal vacancies as soon as they accept their place.
The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Deependra Jha on behalf of UPES while Professor Andrea Nollent the Vice-Chancellor and CEO signed the
document on behalf of The University of Law.
Jha expressed hope that the partnership will further bolster UPES’s efforts to provide qualitative industry relevant education to students aspiring to excel in law.
The senior leadership team of UPES present on this occasion included Brigadier (Retd) SS Dhillon, Kamal Bansal , Veena Dutta, Manisha Mohan, Geeta Hegde, Manish Prateek and Arun Dhand.
