Wednesday, 10 July 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

The Delhi Police has claimed to have cracked the mystery behind the brutal murder of Anand Singh (43), a Senior Auditor employed with the Government of India. Anand Singh, posted with the receipt section and dispatch section of the Director General of Audit Central Expenditure, was allegedly murdered by his own minor son, who had roped in two of his friends to carry out the killing. Anand Singh's 36 -year-old wife Sunita had hatched the conspiracy to bump off  her husband as she was reportedly pissed off  with the boorish and violent behavior.

Senior police officials said that they have arrested Sunita, Rishab (20) and Vikas (20) on the charges of murder while Anand Singh's minor son has been detained. It has been revealed that Rishab and Vikas were promised Rs 1.5 lakh for the job. Rishab is being interrogated by the police while his cohort Vikas is absconding.

Police said that Sunita told  the investigating  officer (IO)  that her husband Anand Singh was alcoholic and used to ill-treat her and children following which she along with her son conspired to eliminate him, so that they can live peacefully thereafter.

Anand Singh's  body was discovered by the police after call was made on the police control room on Saturday morning. His body bore multiple stab marks and police suspect that he was murdered during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

According to Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South-East district, during initial investigation, Sunita the wife of the deceased tried to mislead the police.

"She stated that her husband used to come at about 7-7:30 pm from his office but on the night of the incident he didn't come till 11:15 pm. When the family members called Anand Singh on his phone, he didn't reply. Thereafter, all family members slept," said the DCP.

"Sunita further stated that she woke up at around 3 AM to go to toilet and she found her husband lying dead in a pool of blood in his room. Thereafter, she woke up other family members and other relatives were called. She further alleged that the mobile phone of her husband and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash  was also missing from the house," said the DCP adding that there were contradictions found in the versions of wife and son of Anand Singh.

"They were again called for questioning and finally Sunita broke down and disclosed that she along with her son contacted Vikas, who was her son's friend. After Sunita promised to give Vikas Rs 1. 5 lakh, he roped in one of his friend Rishabh to eliminate Anand," said the DCP.

"On the night of the incident, accused Sunita along with her son called Vikas and Rishabh to their house and hid them on the roof of the house. At around 11:30pm Anand Singh returned and slept without having dinner and he was in drunken state," said the DCP.

"At around 2:30 am, when everyone was asleep both Sunita and her son went up to the roof and signaled Vikas and Rishabh. They both stabbed Anand with knives while Sunita and her son kept guard outside the room in which Anand was sleeping. When they all ensured that Anand had died, Vikas and Rishabh fled from the house and the gate of the house was kept open," said the DCP.
