Will not implement CAB in C’garh: Baghel

Saturday, 14 December 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

After States like Punjab, Kerala and West Bengal, Chhattisgarh too has decided not to implement Citizenship Amedment Bill (CAB) which has now became an Act after President signed it.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday announced that the Amended Act would not be implemented in the State.

Baghel made the announcement while talking to reporters at Raipur’s Swami Vivekanand Airport before proceeding to the national Capital.

Answering to a query from a media person about senior minister TS Singhdeo’s tweet about the new Citizenship Act, the CM made it clear that the new Act would not be implemented in order to ‘protect the constitutional values of the country’.

Commenting on Union Government’s move of printing lotus in the passport, the Chief Minister said it was ‘degradation of politics’. The level of BJP is so diminished that it is now printing its party symbol in the passport, he stated.
