Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath questioned as to why Samajwadi Party national chief Akhilesh Yadav was so adamant on going to Prayagraj when the district administration was apprehensive that his presence could create law and order problems. “Was he going to create violence there?” Yogi questioned.
The Chief Minister said that Akhilesh had gone to Prayagraj 10 days back and suddenly wanted to go there again even as the authorities said that his presence could create law and order problem. “We will not compromise with the law and order at any cost and whoever the person might be,” Yogi told media persons in Lucknow on Tuesday.
“The SP should refrain from its anarchist activities. The Allahabad University administration had given in writing that Akhilesh’s visit might create law and order problem due to the dispute between student outfits. Hence the government took this step,” he clarified.
State BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak blamed the SP for trying to ‘create’ violence in the name of participating in the Allahabad University Students' union function on Tuesday.
“It is an old habit of SP leaders and their rowdy aides to create law and order problems. Even as the BJP was trying to maintain law and order at any cost, these SP leaders were trying to take political mileage out of the issue,” Pathak quipped.
