Ink yourself with deals

Restaurants and cafes launch their election-special menus to tempt the voter and encourage him to cast his vote. By Team Viva

Democracy’s biggest festival is halfway through and being celebrated in its full splendour. With Delhi headed to polls on May 12, the restaurants too have decided to chip in and do their bit to encourage people to vote. Or chill out after mandating a nation’s destiny. And it is a win-win situation for everyone around. While restaurants get footfalls, the clients get great deals and the voting percentage also sees a spike. Let’s trawl through some of the deals that cafes and restaurants offer in their special menu, during the election season with the aim of uniting politically diverse perspectives over a great meal.

Get inked to get discounts

Monkey Bar (all outlets) proposes the election-special offer for those who enter the queues to vote at the ongoing elections. By showing their inked finger, customers can get 19 per cent off on their food orders. They suggest to not wash that ink off too fast as the offer is valid for two days after the day of voting.

Dheeraj Varma, head chef of the gastropub, says, “It’s election time across the country and we believe in being relevant and connected with what is happening around us. Giving discounts is our way of encouraging customers to come forward and exercise their vote. It’s a reward for those who beat the heat and vote for a great future for the country. So show us your inked finger and be rewarded for being a good citizen.”

From juicy burgers to signature cocktails like the Copper Monkey and Mangaa, they aim to present their specialities not just to attract foodies but to create an awareness about the importance of voting. No matter how the polls swing, everyone is the winner here. The offer is valid on May 13 and 14.

The Great Kabab Factory at Radisson Blu, Faridabad is also offering 20 per cent discount on the total bill value. Just by showing your voter-ID card and ink on the finger, you can avail the offer. “People should exercise their franchise for the development of the country and as a token of respect for those who have voted, our outlet is offering them a 20 per cent discount. We are appreciating every individual who has voted. This discount is our humble contribution to encourage citizens,” says GM Harpreet Vohra.

Cast a vote to the favourite dish

Cafe Bokan has come up with his election-special menu comprising dishes like The Aam Aadmi Pasta, which is based on the aam admi’s (common man’s) tastes and preferences. The Modi Magic Paneer roll has masala cottage cheese rolled in whole wheat bread. The Rahul’s special Gath Bandhan French fries, with a mix of regional sauce topped with Italian cheese, is going to tickle every inch of your tastebuds. The plot twist is to make a visit to the cafe and cast the vote to your favourite dish.

The ultimate Thali

Ardor 2.1 recently unveiled the look of its new election-special thali and has become a sensation among all. It brings 28 different cuisines from the 28 states of India on a single plate, serving Chowkidaar Paranthas as the 29th item in the thali. It has been designed in the shape of the Indian map and has both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian variants, weighing around 5.5 kg of net weight and around 10.5 kg of total weight. It has items like Paneer butter masala, Lithi choka, Dhokla and Khandvi, Gongura pachdi, Shaphaley, Aloo posto, Himachali choley, Bisi bele bath, Dal pachrangi in the veg variants, whereas Chicken butter masala, Biryani, Kosha mangsho, Galouti kebabs, Mutton pepper fry, Chicken chettinad, Goan fish curry and Chicken shaphaley feature in the non-veg segment.
