nIn separate incidents, police seized a huge haul of arms and ammunition including 50 kg of ammonium nitrate hidden by Maoists in the jungles of Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district, police said on Tuesday.
In the first case, a joint police team of DRG from Rajnandgaon, Manpur and BDS (bomb disposal squad) started an anti-Naxalite operation from Aundhi police station limits in the district.
Based on information provided by surrendered Maoist Gend Singh Kovachi, the team uncovered the ammonium nitrate in the jungles of Metatodka, a press release from the police said.
In a separate joint operation carried out by Rajnandgaon and Gondia (Maharashtra) police, a catche of arms and ammunition hidden in a forested patch in the Bortalab police station area was found, it added.
Police found a muzzle loading gun, outer cover of HE grenade, five bundles of wire, a solar plate, batteries, torches, a switch, cello tape, knives and a converter box stored in a large size plastic drum, the press release said.
