C’garh Cabinet approves outline of ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’

The Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Tuesday finally approved the outline of the ambitious ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’ under which cow dung will be procured from livestock owners in villagers to be transformed into vermi-compost for farmers.

The Cabinet met at the official residence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, an official statement said. The long pending merger of Shiksha Karmi was also approved.

The 'Godhan Nyay Yojana' will be launched on the day of Hareli (July 20).

At present there are 5,300 Gauthans in the state, out of which 2,408 are in urban areas, the communiqué added.

The Cabinet recommended procurement of dung at Rs 1.50 per kg from livestock owners and at Rs 2 per kg inclusive of the transport cost.

The Cabinet also approved selling of vermi-compost produced under the scheme to farmers through cooperative societies at Rs 8 per kg.

According to the Cabinet decision, short-term agricultural loans can be provided for vermi- compost preparation including infrastructural cost. 

The Cabinet also revised the circular of the 2013 General Administration Department regarding appointment on compassionate grounds.

According to the Cabinet decision, a minor brother or sister of a deceased unmarried government employee can be eligible for employment if the deceased’s parent give consent in writing.

The meeting also decided on merging of teachers. This will benefit 16,278 teachers.

According to the decision, the remaining batch of teachers (Panchayat and urban body cadres) who have completed service period of two years or more are considered as teacher under School Education Department from November 1, 2020.
