The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and the party's frontal organizations will support the call by the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and other trade unions for a countrywide general strike on November 26 against changes in farm and labour laws.
A communication from the PCC said the protest will start at November 25 midnight and continue till November 26 midnight.
The strike has been called by labour unions from the insurance, banking, railway, central and state level employees' as well as labour organizations. The Congress will be a part of it.
The strike is against the recent farm and labour laws brought by the National Democratic Alliance government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said the communication.
The government had made changes in four labour laws which are anti-worker and these have been cleared without any democratic process in Parliament. In the name of ease of doing business, the laws allow for exploitation of workers and farmers by corporates and industries.
The Congress has appealed to the common man to be a part of the protest.
