The strategically important Bailey bridge at Dhapa Senargad on Munsiyari- Milam motor road which had collapsed on June 22 has been restored by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). This bridge which provides link to the Indo-China border region in the district had a load carrying capacity of 18 to 20 metric tonnes and had collapsed due to overloading when a trawler carrying a JCB tried to cross it.
The collapse of this bridge had hindered movement of troops and supplies to the border outpost along the Indo-China.
Considering the importance of the bridge the BRO undertook the challenge of restoration on war footing and completed the task on Saturday in record time of six days despite facing the odds of weather and material mobilisation.
At a time when tensions between India and China have led to considerable deployments along the border, the restoration of this bridge has brought timely relief.
