Do not panic or hide if tested Covid positive: Govt

Wednesday, 16 September 2020 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

The Raipur district administration on Tuesday requested people not to panic if they are tested Covid positive.

“Many times, it has been seen that after people are tested Covid positive they immediately switch off their mobile phone and try to hide," an official press release said.

"This is completely wrong and such people are not only putting themselves at risk but also their near and dear ones,” a Health Department official was quoted as saying.

Explaining the timeline, the official said antigen results are quickly reported while RT-PCR or True-Nat test take 2 or 3 days.

If anyone is reported Covid positive and they do not have any symptoms, then there is an option of home treatment. They can also admit themselves in a Covid care centre or private hospital, the press release said.

After a person is found Covid positive, a link to apply for home isolation is sent on their mobile number. If the patient is finding it difficult to fill the form then they could contact 75661 00283 for technical assistance.

If there is a separate room and toilet in a patient's house, then officials can permit home isolation.

The Health Department has said that if any Covid positive patients are in hiding, they should come forward and get the        treatment. If Covid treatment starts on time, then patients have very high chances of full       recovery, the press note said.
