Higher edu dept to shif subject teachers with no students

Saturday, 11 January 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

The higher education department would shift subject teachers from the colleges having no students to other colleges. This decision was taken in a meeting of the officials of the higher education department in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday.

The meeting was chaired by the state minister for cooperatives, protocol and higher education Dhan Singh Rawat.

The minister said that those teachers who are posted in the colleges where the students of their subject are not enrolled should be shifted to those colleges where they are required.

He also directed that pending works related to 19 colleges of the state should be completed before March 31, 2020.

In this regard, the minister directed the secretary, higher education to convene a meeting of the Principals of the colleges, planning department and finance department. On the order of Uttarakhand High Court (HC) which has paved the way for appointment of assistant professors on 877 posts, the minister said that the department would soon appoint selected candidates on these posts.

It is pertinent to mention here that on the requisition of the higher education department, the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission had started the process of recruitment on 877 posts of assistant professors in the government colleges of the state.  The process was however halted when some aspirants challenged the recruitment process on the basis that the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations are not being followed in it. The HC on Thursday removed the stay on the recruitment process. The meeting was attended by secretary higher education Ashok Kumar, joint secretary M N Semwal, joint director higher education Kumkum Rautela and others.
