MCD expects over Rs 40 cr property tax by March

Thursday, 31 December 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

Even though the Covid-19 pandemic has dampened the property tax collection in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), the officials still hope to collect over Rs 40 crores by March 2021.

Informing this, the municipal tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly stated that about Rs 20 crores have been collected by the corporation so far but he is optimistic that the tax collection will reach up to Rs 50 crores by the end of March.

“There are still three months left in the current financial year and since most of the taxpayers tend to deposit property taxes by the end of March, the MCD will possibly collect Rs 40 crores to Rs 50 crores,” said Painuly. Moreover, the officials informed that the tax submission through online mode also increased this year during the pandemic.

It is pertinent to mention here that the 20 per cent rebate on property tax will end on January 31 and will not be extended this time as per the officials.
