Several parts across the State have been witnessing a fall in the minimum temperature levels. However, with the wind pattern changing from November 25 onwards, the temperature is expected to increase by a few degrees thus bringing the chill factor down.
As per the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi for the next two days- November 24 and November 25 no significant change in the minimum temperature levels is expected. From November 26 onwards the minimum temperature is likely to increase by 2-4 degree Celsius.
A low pressure system present in the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to form into a cyclone in the coming 24 hours. This severe cyclonic storm is forecasted to hit the Tamil Nadu coastline on November 25. The cyclone formation will change the wind pattern to easterly -south easterly from the present north- westerly.
“A western disturbance is hitting Jammu and Kashmir region from November 23 to November 25. This disturbance coupled with the changing wind pattern caused by the cyclone is having an interaction because of which light to moderate showers are being predicted on November 26 and November 27 in some parts of the State. From November 26 onwards there will also be a gradual increase in the minimum temperature levels,” said Deputy Director, MET Centre Ranchi Abhishek Anand.
As per the weathermen, on November 26 parts of north west and south west Jharkhand may witness light to moderate rainfall while on November 27 parts north east and south east pockets may witness showers.
As per the weather bulletin released by the MET Centre, Ranchi on November 23, in the past 24 hours the lowest temperature was recorded in Bokaro at 9.1 degree Celsius which is 6.5 degrees below normal. Ranchi and Chaibasa were recorded at 10.1 and 11.6 degree Celsius which is 2.1 and 2.3 degrees below normal respectively.
The bulletin further stated that the minimum temperature from November 24 to November 27 in the State capital and its surrounding areas will be between 11 to 16 degrees Celsius.
