Rising fuel prices: Cong holds protest at petrol pumps

In protest against rising prices of petrol and diesel, the Congress party workers and leaders held demonstrations at petrol pumps in all parts of the State on Monday. The Congress workers held placards and distributed pamphlets to the people visiting the petrol pumps in which compassion of the petrol and diesel prices during the Congress Government and present Narendra Modi led BJP government at centre.

The PCC president Pritam Singh went to a petrol pump located on the busy Rajpur road of the city and held a protest. He also distributed pamphlets to the people.

Earlier in the day, the PCC president unleashed a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government for continuously increasing the prices of petrol and diesel.

He said that the people reeling under the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic were hoping that the Government would provide relief to them but instead of offering succour, the Narendra Modi Government has gone overboard in increasing the prices of petrol and diesel.

Singh said that the international prices of the crude oil are lowest in recent years but the Modi Government instead of decreasing the prices of petrol and diesel and passing the benefit to the general public has engaged in loot by increasing the prices.

He said that the people of India are forced to pay maximum excise duty on petrol and diesel due to the policy of loot adopted by the Modi government.

The PCC president was accompanied by vice president of the state unit, Surya Kant Dhasmana, Mahanagar president Lal Chand Sharma, former minister Ajay Singh, Garima Dassauni and others. Other leaders of the Congress which included the office bearers of the state, district and block units, former Ministers, MLAs and other leaders held protests in different petrol pumps in all the districts of the State.

The members of the youth Congress also took part in the protest.
