Wednesday, 08 July 2020 | Staff Reporter | AMBIKAPUR

Chhattisgarh Health and Family Welfare Minister T.S. Singh Deo on Tuesday directed the Ambikapur Medical College Hospital to ensure foolproof security for doctors, paramedical staff and others.

The Minister called for checkpoints in the premises for better security, electronic surveillance equipment with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), a pass for entering wards and a separate counter to issue the passes for entry for a specified period, an official statement said.

He was holding a review meeting at the Ambikapur Medical College Hospital.

The Minister directed the Surguja Superintendent of Police to take immediate action if any untoward      incident took place. The other day, a person had assaulted the doctors on duty, citing his family's ties with the wife of a police officer.

The Minister wanted shortcomings in the hospital overcome as people have huge expectations from the health services.

The Minister inspected the under construction new building and asked officials to fast track it.

Singh Deo gave directions for establishing a virology lab to test coronavirus and training technicians for it. Training should also be imparted to MBBS doctors for sonography to reduce pressure on specialist doctors.

At the same time, the Minister warned of stern action against doctors who don't take charge after being transferred.
