Six patients recover from COVID-19 discharged from AIIMS Raipur

Six more coronavirus (COVID-19) patients were on Thursday discharged from the AIIMS, Raipur after they recovered from the viral infection.

With this, the total number of active cases in Chhattisgarh now stands at 10, officials said.

“The six patients, including two women, hailing from Katghora town of the state’s Korba district, were discharged after two consecutive tests came out negative for the infection,” a public relations official of the AIIMS said.

Now, 10 patients are undergoing treatment at AIIMS, the official said.

Katghora, located around 200 km from the state capital Raipur, has emerged as the COVID-19 contamination spot in the state with 24 confirmed cases reported there until now.

So far by Thursday evening 5,519 sample for COVID-19 testing were   carried out across Chhattisgarh, out of which reports of 5,168 were found negative.

The remaining 318  samples are under testing process, health department officials said.

According to health officials, 69,144 people across Chhattisgarh are currently in home quarantine and 26,411 people have successfully completed home quarantine period.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh health secretary Niharika Barik Singh has asked health department officials to formulate a strategy for undertaking pool sampling process in the state.

Pool sampling process has been suggested by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
