Sunday, 12 July 2020 | Pioneer News Service | Kanpur

Two more aides of gangster Vikas Dubey were arrested by Maharashtra ATS from Thane on Saturday.

They were identified as Guddan Trivedi and Sonu Tewari.

Both criminals were involved in the killing of eight police personnel in Bikru ambush on July 2 night.

The Uttar Pradesh government had announced a reward of Rs.50,000 on Guddan Trivedi.

On a tip-off, the Maharashtra ATS’ Juhu unit raided a place in Coalshed Road and arrested Arvind alias Guddan Ramvilas Trivedi and his driver Sonu Tewari.

They have confessed their involvement in the killing of eight cops in Bikru ambush on July 2 night and the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party leader with state cabinet minister rank, Santosh Shukla, in 2001.

Guddan Trivedi was a close aide of slain Vikas Dubey and named in the list of most wanted criminals. After the killing of eight police personnel in Bikru ambush, he was at large. Since then, police had raided his hideouts, including his residence in Kudhwa village of Rura town of Kanpur Dehat.

On Saturday, the ATS of Maharashtra informed UP Police about the arrest of two wanted criminals of Vikas Dubey gang from Thane. Guddan Trivedi is the zila panchayat member from Gudhwa village of Rura while his wife Kanchan is the gram pradhan of Kudhwa village.

He had been involved in several illegal activities with Vikas Dubey. In 2001, he was one of the accused involved in the murder of Santosh Shukla. Later, in the absence of evidence, he was acquitted by court along with Vikas Dubey. Since the Bikru ambush, Guddan was absconding from his house. So far, police and STF had raided his house and shop twice but failed to nab him.

Apart from Rura police station, there is no FIR against him with the Sheoli (Kanpur Dehat) police station. Guddan would earlier accompany Vikas Dubey as his gunner. Gradually, he created his dominance in the village and became zila panchayat member.
