Record 7.85 L vaccinated in Maha on Saturday

A record 7.85 lakh people were administered Covid-10 vaccines in various parts of Maharashtra on Saturday, even as the daily pandemic infections went up to 9,489 and deaths jumped to 371.

Breaking its own previous record of 7,38,704 vaccinations on June 26, Maharashtra achieved another record, as many as 5,311 covid vaccine doses were administered to people across the state.

Announcing this, Maharashtra’s Additional Chief Secretary (health)Dr Pradeep Vyas said: “Today yet again we surpassed our previous Best performance in Covid vaccination. Today till 7 PM we have administered 7,85,311 covid vaccine doses, which is the highest-ever number of vaccinations  for the State. Vaccination is still in progress at many centres and we may cross 8 lakh figure today. Our previous best was 7,38,704 vaccinations recorded on June 26”.

“With this total vaccination till 6 PM today as per dashboard is 3,38,57,372 maintaining top position for our State in the country since last more than 3 months,” Dr Vyas said.

Meanwhile, a day after it logged 156 daily deaths and 8,753 infections, Maharashtra recorded 3712 deaths and 9,489 infections

Of the deaths reported on Saturday, 153 were current deaths, while  208 were “previous and unaccounted” deaths.

With 371 deaths, the Covid-19 oll in the state jumped from 1,22,353 to 1,22,724. Similarly, with 9.489 fresh infections, the total infections in the state climbed from  60,79,352 to 60,88,841.

As 8395 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 58,36,920 to 55,45,315.  The recovery rate in the state dropped from 96.01 per cent to 96 per cent.

 The total “active cases” in the state rose from 1,16,867 to 1,17,575.  The fatality rate in the state stood static at 2.01 per cent. 

Mumbai recorded 21 deaths and 571 infections. As a result, the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from 15,499 to 15,520, while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 7,23,551 to 7,24,122.

Pune with 17,106 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Thane with 16,630  stood second, followed by Kolhapur (13,087), Mumbai (12,826), Sangli (10,528),  Satara (8255), Ratnagiri (5,437), Raigad (4945) and Sindhudurg (4,274).

Of the 4,23,20,880 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 60,88,841 have tested positive (14.39 per cent) for COVID-19 until Saturday

Currently, 6,32,949 people are in home quarantine while 4,422 people are in institutional quarantine.
