50 per cent reservation for in-service doctors in DNB courses in Haryana

The “in-service” doctors in Haryana will now get 50 percent reservation in the state quota for admission to the Post MBBS DNB, Post Diploma DNB and Post MBBS Diploma courses in various National Board of Examination (NBE) accredited civil hospitals in the state. However, the “in-service doctors” will be debarred for three years to apply for these courses under the state quota if they leave the course (having joined the institute) after three days prior to the last date of admission prescribed by the NBE.The State Government has issued a notification for admission to these courses for the academic session 2021-22.

The Post MBBS DNB, Post Diploma DNB and Post MBBS Diploma courses are currently running in nine NBE accredited civil hospitals at Panchkula, Faridabad, Ambala City, Hisar, Bahadurgarh, Rewari, Ambala Cantt, Panipat and Rohtak, according to the notification. Earlier, all seats in DNB courses in the state were filled through the All India Merit category of NEET PG.The DNB courses in the civil hospitals have been introduced to meet the shortage of specialists in the state.

DNB, a 3-year course is a substitute of MD/MS course which is offered by civil/ private hospitals to provide specialization to doctors after their MBBS degree. The DNB degree is awarded by the NBE which is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Health. “As per the guidelines of NBE, the admission to Post MBBS DNB, Post Diploma DNB and Post MBBS Diploma courses under 50 percent state quota seats will be applicable to ‘in-service doctors’ only,” said a senior official of the Health Department while talking to The Pioneer.He said that 50 percent seats in these courses will now be filled through All India Merit category of NEET PG 2021 and PDCET 2021 while the remaining 50 percent seats will be filled under state quota. At present, there are 58 seats for DNB courses in civil hospitals of Haryana. Inspections by NBE is ongoing and soon, seats will be increased to start DNB courses in nine civil hospitals in Haryana, he added.The fee to be paid by the eligible “in-service doctor” for admission to these courses under the state quota will be Rs 1,48000 on annual basis.
