The policies and schemes of the Chhattisgarh government have made agriculture immensely attractive, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday.
After he assured that the fourth instalment of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay scheme will be paid before the end of the fiscal year, the third supplementary budget of Rs 505 crores was passed by the House.
The Chief Minister was replying to a discussion on the supplementary budget on the third day of the Budget session.
The main budget was of Rs 95,650 crores and with three supplementary the amount stands at Rs 102,349 crores.
He said the last government promised a loan waiver and bonus every year, which was not fulfilled due to which the size of agriculture reduced. This year 21 lakh farmers registered and 20 lakh farmers sold paddy on minimum support price.
It is a quantum jump from the BJP government’s tenure, Baghel said.
The farmers agitating in Delhi are demanding to paddy procurement like in Chhattisgarh, he added.
The Chief Minister said there is a shortfall of Rs 14,073 crores from central taxes to the state. In the new Central budget, 4 percent cess has been imposed which will incur a further loss of Rs 1,000 crores.
He added that loans of the previous government have been carried forward.
BJP leader Ajay Chandrakar had raised the issue of an error in budget papers where Rs 16 crores was written as Rs 1,600 crores. Baghel said the opposition should not have raised a hue and cry over it as such errors had occurred during the period of earlier governments too.
