Bharatanatyam’s Kala Yatra  Naipathya centre of attraction

Diverse dimensions of the Indian art tradition have come together at the world famous 47th Khajuraho Dance Festival.

Not only are tourists and art lovers enjoying the live classical dance performances, but they are also getting acquainted with the systematic history of dance and arts.

The undertaking of films focused on art, artist and art tradition  motion pictures and the Indian dance style of Bharatanatyam’s Kala Yatra  Naipathya remain the centre of attraction at the Khajuraho dance festival.

Films and exhibitions focused on the history of classical dance and arts of India are being appreciated by art lovers and tourists.

Raj Bendre, who is coordinating the film workshop at the Khajuraho dance festival, said that central films based on Indian art artist and art tradition are being screened through motion pictures.

These films feature music, dance, paintings as well as artists from other art traditions and memorable moments of their lives. The film provides a novel approach to the art lovers, which will always inspire them. The films which are being screened from 4 to 6 pm are very appealing to all tourists.

Art of Indian dance style Bharatanatyam Yatra-Naipathya Smt. Abhinaya Nagajyoti, who is coordinating Kala Yatra 'Naipathya' workshop of Indian dance style Bharatanatyam at Khajuraho Dance Festival, said that this year’s theme is Indian classical dance -Bharatanatyam. Tourists are being told about the history of classical Bharatanatyam dance through the Naipathya workshop and exhibition.

The sequence of historical development of Bharatanatyam dance has been demonstrated through photographs, interpreters, costume and jewelery. Tourists are being familiarized with the mridangam, violin, flute and talam, etc. used during the dances. In this workshop, tourists are being given all information and their queries related to Bharatanatyam dance are also being resolved.

The introduction to the history of Indian classical dance art during the Khajuraho dance festival is a new experience for tourists. Now Khajuraho is making its mark as a place of study of art and dance, rather than a venue for dance festival.

The amazing combination of dance performances, descriptions, of history exhibitions, films and tastes of local cuisine have made the Khajuraho dance festival memorable for tourists and art lovers.
