Covid-19 record 2,580 new cases in a single-day in Doon

The provisional capital of Uttarakhand is continuing to remain the hot spot in the ongoing second wave of Covid-19. The authorities reported a whopping 2,580 cases of the disease on Sunday which is the highest number of cases on any single day.  Apart from Dehradun the state is also continuing to reel under the onslaught of contagion of Covid-19.  On Sunday the health department reported 5606 cases of the disease which increased the cumulative tally of the disease to 191620. The department also reported the death of 71 patients on Sunday which increased the death toll to 2802 in the state.

The death rate now is 1.46 percent in Uttarakhand which is higher than the national average. On Sunday 2935 patients were discharged after their recovery from the disease. The recovery percentage has now further decreased and is 68.44 percent.

Out of 71 deaths reported on Sunday, 17 deaths were reported from Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital Haldwani while 13 patients died at Military hospital Dehradun. Death of 10 patients was reported from Himalayan hospital while six patients died at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on the day. The authorities reported the death of four patients at Kailash hospital Dehradun, three each at Max hospital Dehradun  and Prayas hospital Sitarganj in Udham Singh Nagar district. Two patients each died at Swami Bhumanand hospital Haridwar and HNB base hospital Srinagar on Sunday.

Dehradun district reported 2580 new patients of Covid-19 on Sunday while 628 patients were reported in Haridwar on  the day. Udham Singh Nagar reported 567, Nainital 436, Tehri 248, Pauri 234, Chamoli 223, Rudraprayag 186, Champawat 173, Uttarkashi 126, Pithoragarh 94, Almora 77 and Bageshwar reported 34 new patients of Covid-19 on Sunday.

 The state now has 53612 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 18497 patients, Haridwar has 10352, Nainital 7007,  Udham Singh Nagar 4485, Pauri 3288, Tehri 1987, Champawat 1654, Almora 1479, Chamoli 1296, Uttarkashi 1071, Rudraprayag 915, Pithoragarh 891 and Bageshwar 690 active cases of the disease.  To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 282 containment zones in different parts of the state.
