Cyber Crime Bhopal busts inter-State gang duping people

Cyber Crime Bhopal busted an interstate gang involved in duping over 260 people over six states to the tune of Rs 80 lakh in the name of selling vehicles fraudulently over OLX website; accused were arrested from Bharatpur Rajasthan.

The fraudsters were nabbed after complaint was lodged in the month of January by Mukesh Vishwakarma that based on advertisement of a HF deluxe motor cycle on OLX of Rs 20000 he contacted on the mobile number provided, the seller introduced himself as an army employee and cheated Rs 51758 in the name of various charges.

Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, the police registered a case under section 420 of the IPC and during the investigation tracked the miscreants and arrested them from Bharatpur Rajasthan.

Arrested accused confessed that they cheated Mukesh and along with Mukesh over 260 people were cheated in the same manner. The nabbed accused persons were identified as Taleem Hussain and Hayyul Khan.

Later, in the investigation police found that accused persons have cheated victims in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and other states. The modus operandi of the accused was to post motorcycle ads on OLX at a very low cost.

For booking a vehicle they would ask for Rs 2150 while security money Rs 3150 and to install GPS for vehicle tracking, they demand Rs. 9999. Before the vehicle is delivered, 30% of the cost of the vehicle is taken as advance. The money earned by the accused in the fraud is used to build their big houses, buy expensive vehicles and luxury goods.
