An event held on Wednesday at Subash Government higher Secondary School to mark Global Handwashing Day, which falls on October 15. Speaking at the event Ajit Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner, Swachh Bharat Mission said that children have played an important role in spreading awareness on sanitation and handwashing with soap. Do keep spreading the word and the momentum on washing hands with soap in critical times. He interacted with children on theme of handwashing and sanitation.

Nagesh Patidar, WASH officer, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh, Handwashing with soap can reduce diarrhoea incidence and respiratory infections, specifically among children below the age of 5, Practicing correct handwashing and building adequate hygiene infrastructure in schools could save one third of children in India from dying of diarrheal disease, respiratory infections and other transmissible diseases.
Anil Gulati, Communication Specialist, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh spoke of covid19 appropriate protocols which includes handwashing with soap, and urged them to take this proactive and steps of handwashing to their peers and at home.
Gayatri Parihar, Vasudha Sansthan coordinated the event and shared work being done by youth4children volunteers in Madhya Pradesh. Sudhakar Parashar, Principal of School spoke on importance of sanitation and education. Global Handwashing Day (GHD) is a global advocacy day, celebrated on the 15th of October every year, dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of hand hygiene, and bringing about sustainable and long-term uptake of Handwashing with Soap (HWWS).
