In a shocking incident, a family from an upscale condominium was held hostage in their car for feeding stray dogs.

The residents of the society alleged that the dogs have bitten children recently, the police said on Tuesday.

The neighbours allegedly surrounded the family’s car when they returned home on Monday night. The protesting residents did not allow them to come out of their vehicle. The incident took place at Vatika 21 Sector-83 in Gurugram.

“A resident of that society is a dog lover and frequently feeds stray dogs in their locality. The other residents of the society alleged that a few days ago one of the dogs bit a resident. The resident who was held hostage, his wife, and their three-year-old child were returning home on Monday night when other people from the society surrounded their car and held hostage,” said Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (crime).

In a video, the complainant woman alleged that the “Resident Welfare Association (RWA) and various goons” surrounded his car, tried to “attack” her husband and three-year-old daughter, and tried to break into the car. He alleged that hundreds of protesters had also misbehaved and manhandled them and the police had reached the incident spot after a long time.

However, the police refuted their allegations and said soon after an information a police team along with Assistant Commissioner of police (Manesar) and four station house officer (SHOs) of different police station reached the spot and peaify the protesters.

"In connection with the incident an FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Kheri Daula police station. Necessary action will be initiated against those guilty," Sangwan said.

The RWA president Ram Mehar said that "On our recommendation the maintenance agency of the society has given a complaint against the dogs to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG). We didn't give any complaint against the family in the police. The dogs have bitten children in the society. Now the family with their wrong intention has given a complaint against the RWA despite any role of the RWA," he said.

Meanwhile, Y P Chauhan, Estate Manager of G21 a maintenance agency of the society said, "We had given complaint related with dogs vaccination in the MCG. We have no problem with dogs even we have provided a space outside the society for dogs".
