Govt to protect interest of State’s Basmati growing farmers: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that efforts are being made to attract maximum investment in Madhya Pradesh. Emphasis is being laid on the establishment of food processing units in particular.

The state government is making continuous efforts to protect and promote the interests of Basmati growing farmers of the state.

Court proceedings for GI tag registration of Basmati paddy in the state is in progress. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has also been requested in this connection.

Chief Minister Chouhan stated this during a meeting with Sulaiman Al Rumaih of United Farms Investment Company, Saudi Arabia and Chairman of L.T. Foods Limited Group, VK Arora.

The industrialists discussed the possibility of investment in food and animal feed.

Chouhan said that investment is welcome in all sectors in Madhya Pradesh.

The momentum that the local economy gets from investment in any sector will also help in building an Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh.

Efforts are being made for the sale and export of rice, wheat and vegetables, Kodo-kutki in the roadmap of Atmanirbhar Madhya Pradesh.

Action plans are being implemented to sell local products of tribal areas in domestic and foreign markets.

The Chief Minister said that efforts have been initiated in Madhya Pradesh to bring popular products of the districts to the world market under ‘Ek Zila-Ek Utpad’.

Along with banana of Burhanpur and garlic of Mandsaur, millet production is being promoted in some districts of the state.

Principal Secretary Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Sanjay Shukla and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Manish Rastogi were present during the meeting.
