In view of difficulties faced by vehicle owners for payment of Motor Vehicle tax due toCovid-19 lockdowns, State Government on Wednesday extended grace period for tax payment till end of February. “ The grace period for payment of Motor Vehicle tax/additional tax of those Goods Carriages for quarter January-March, 2021 has been extended upto February 28, 2021,” a notification by State Commerce and Transport Department stated today.
Due to lockdown declared byCentre as well as State Government to prevent Coronavirus, vehicle owners are unable to pay Motor Vehicle tax and additional tax forquarter January-March 2021 within grace period prescribed under sub rule-(2) of rule-9 of Odisha Motor Vehicle Taxation Rules, 1976.
