IMA to hold ‘Mega Women’s Health Camp’ on Nov 30

Monday, 29 November 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

Women Doctors’ Wing of Indian Medical Association (IMA), along with the State Government, will hold a free ‘Mega Women's Health Camp’ and training camp for Government gynecologists at Community Health Centre, Ratu, Ranchi from 9 am to 5 pm on November 30. Health Minister Banna Gupta will attend the event.

The women who came to this camp will be treated by the team of Dr. Kanika Gupta, a renowned gynecologist from Max Super Specialty Hospital, Delhi. Along with this, training will also be provided to Jharkhand government’s gynecologists for cervical pre-cancer examination and treatment.

Health check-up of women will be done at the camp. Iron, folic acid and calcium tablets for one month will be distributed free of cost to all the women who visit the camp. Kit 2 and Kit 6 tablets will be distributed free of cost to all women suffering from leucorrhoea and infection.

Sahiyas of Kanke, Budmu, Mandar, Chanho and Ratu attended a training session for this camp recently.

Dr. Bharti Kashyap, President, Women's Doctors Wing of IMA said, “If we screen 6 per cent of women of reproductive age, then it will be considered as screening of the entire population for cervical cancer. But it has to be kept in mind that 6 per cent of the women who have been screened in the hospital or camp belong to the high risk category and have symptoms of cervical cancer.”

She said that Jharkhand's place in National Family Health Survey-5 could have been better if similar camps were organised earlier.

During National Family Health Survey-5 (2019 20), 0.4 per cent of urban women in Jharkhand said they have been screened for cervical cancer. It was also revealed in this survey that the percentage of screening was found to be higher in Jharkhand than in neighboring states like Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
