A 22-year-old man has been arrested while a juvenile was apprehended after brief exchange of fire in Delhi’s Rohini area. Police said that the accused were involved in firing at Delhi Police constables in Bhalswa Dairy area on February 25.
The accused has been identified as Yogesh Verma, a resident of Bakhtawarpur in the city. Police said that the accused is involved eight cases of auto theft while juvenile was wanted in two attempt to murder case registered at NIA and Bhalswa Dairy police stations.
According to Rajiv Ranjan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Outernorth district, on the evening of February 25 at around 06.15 PM, Constables Sandeep and Bhupender of Bhalswa Dairy police station were on checking duty when three young boys came on a motorcycle having a defective number plate.
“Being suspicious, the police personnel signaled to stop the bikers. They stopped the bike and the pillion rider tried to escape. When the police tried to catch him, he fell and fired on Constable Sandeep while another accused also opened fire Constable Bhupender, which luckily did not hurt them,” said the DCP.
“On the intervening night of Sunday-Monday, specific inputs were received that the erson involved in Bhalswa Dairy firing would be coming to Rohini area following which a trap was laid,” said the DCP.
