A 43-year-old man was arrested on Friday on the charge of raping a 45-year-old married woman on Thursday night at a village under the Bari police station in Jajpur district.
The woman had gone out of her house to attend to nature's call when she was allegedly raped by Bichitrananda Rout. On Friday, the woman filed an FIR in the police station that she was raped by the accused. Acting on the FIR, police arrested the accused, said Bari police station IIC Ajay Kumar Jena.
Police booked the accused under Section 376 (rape) of IPC. The woman was taken to the Government hospital at Bari, where doctors conducted her medical examination. The accused was produced in court. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him to jail custody.
