A Muslim burial ground of Brahmapur is one of the oldest and biggest in the State. Inside the burial ground which spreads over eight acres of land, there is a small pond since the times of British rule.
The pond helps as the Muslim community needs water during burial and also before and after the burial and to wash legs and hands which is in their tradition. It also helps for the plantation activities.
But in last three years, the pond has been lying dry due to a lot of mud and heavy rocks inside it. State BJD secretary Md Faiz Khan recently had submitted a letter to the local MLA Bikram Panda apprising him about the situation. Panda immediately made a spot visit and also released funds from MLA LAD for restoration work including digging of a bore well inside the pond.
