Five more Covid-19 fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,504 in Punjab on Sunday while 240 new cases took the infection count to 1,70,605 in the State. The mortality rate stood at 3.22 per cent in the State.
Of the total five deaths, one death each was reported in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mansa, Pathankot and SAS Nagar, the state’s health bulletin stated.
Among the fresh cases, the highest 54 were reported from Mohali followed by 33 in Ludhiana, 31 in Jalandhar, 29 in Patiala and 18 in Amritsar, as per the bulletin.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 195 Coronavirus patients were discharged after recovering from infection, taking the number of cured persons to 162484 in the state. The recovery rate in the state was recorded at 95.2 percent. The State has 2617 active Covid-19 cases. Of them, 10 critical patients are on ventilator support, while 52 are on oxygen support, the bulletin added.
Haryana reports two deaths, 178 fresh COVID cases
With 178 fresh COVID-19 cases, Haryana’s caseload surged to 266309 on Sunday while two more persons succumbed to the virus taking the toll to 2985 in the state.
One death each was reported in Kaithal and Faridabad due to COVID-19, the state’s Health Department’s bulletin stated. As per the bulletin, a maximum of 45 fresh cases were reported from Gurugram followed by 24 in Faridabad and 23 in Panchkula. There were 2094 active cases in the state till the evening. 211 patients recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 261230 in the state.
The state has a recovery rate of 98.09 per cent while the fatality rate stood at 1.12 percent. Out of 51 critical patients admitted in the hospitals, 44 patients were on oxygen support while seven were on ventilator, the health bulletin said.
According to the bulletin, the case-doubling rate in Haryana stood at 105 days and COVID positive rate was 5.38 per cent. As many as 49 lakh samples have been tested till date in Haryana, it added.
Chandigarh reports 34 fresh COVID cases
34 fresh Covid-19 cases were detected in the union territory of Chandigarh on Sunday taking the total infections to 20537.
In the last 24 hours, no death has been reported in the city due to the virus. The death toll due to Covid-19 stood at 330, as per the Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin.
20 males and 14 females were tested positive in the last 24 hours. There were 229 active cases till the evening. 43 patients recovered in the past 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 19978, the bulletin stated.
200245 samples have so far been tested in the city. A total of 704 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours and the report of 61 was awaited, the bulletin added.
