Sakchi market to be redeveloped on lines of Chandni Chowk

Monday, 29 November 2021 | PNS | Jamshedpur

The famous Sakchi market will be developed on the lines of Chandni Chowk in Delhi. Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has started a campaign to develop Sakchi market as a model market. As part of the initiative, the MLA, along with his supporters, visited the empty market of Sakchi early in the morning. Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee Officer Krishna Kumar and local shopkeepers were also present on the occasion.

Roy said that Sakchi will develop the market on the lines of Chandni Chowk in Delhi. The lease agreement of Tata Steel expired in the year 2012 and now the land of Sakchi Sairat is going to be handed over to the government from its ownership. As soon as the JNAC administration gets the land from the government, the construction work of the market will be started here in a systematic manner.

However, there is a lot of outrage and curiosity among businessmen due to the news of breaking the market and converting it into multi-storey buildings. Roy’s representative for business affairs and local businessman Akash Shah had in the past sought to consult shopkeepers and business organisations and know their side before changing the structure of the market.

To remove this dilemma of businessmen and to protect their interests, local MLA held a meeting with the shopkeepers to know the situation along with the office bearers of JNAC, BJM Jamshedpur District President Subodh Srivastava and the market's businessmen and intellectuals on Saturday morning.

Roy said that there is a plan to develop the market on the lines of Chandni Chowk in Delhi, but first inspection will be done there, because comparison of Delhi and Jamshedpur is not possible. He said that every class of shopkeepers and customers come to Sakchi Bazar of Jamshedpur. The plan is to develop the market accordingly.

Moreover, full care will be taken that no one is harmed. On the other hand, JNAC Special Officer Krishna Kumar said that as soon as the handover is received from the district administration, JNAC will develop the market as a model market, so that the traffic jam and criminal incidents in the market can be curbed. Sakchi is the heart of Jamshedpur, there are plans to develop it in a better way.
