nThe Cuttack Chapter of Odisha Union of Working Journalists affiliated to the Indian Journalists Union, New Delhi held its2021 Annual Day at Phulnakhara. Joining as the inaugurator of the event and chief guest, noted writer Padma Shri Pratibha Ray opined that journalists are like the teachers of the society.
They show the real path and thereby contribute a great deal to the society.
President of Cuttack Union of Journalists Lalit Kumar Dash presided over the programme. Chief speaker retired IPS Officer and former Additional Director General of Police Arun Kumar Upadhyay in his address stated the relationship among the Press, police and public.
Noted Indo-Anglican poet Raju Samal called for character building of all these three stake-holders in order to create a healthy society.
Guest of Honour and president of Odisha Union of Working Journalists Sugyan Choudhury maintained that the job of the mediapersons is to create an enlightened public opinion for a sustainable democracy.
Secretary of the association Pabitra Kumar Patra presented a brief annual report earlier. In this context, noted personalities like the Director of SVNIRTAR (Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation and Research) Dr Shakti Prasad Das, Dr Chittaranjan Mishra, Dr Adhiraj Parida, Bharata Masala enterpriser Surendra Nath Panda, Ganesh Prasad Das, Biman Bihari Behera, Manoj Kumar Nayak, Er Pradeep Kumar Behera and Deben Roy were felicitated.
