A servant and his accomplice have decamped with cash and valuables valued at over Rs 2 crore from a gems and jewellery shop in Raipur City, police said on Monday.
Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav told The Pioneer the gems and jewellery valued at Rs 2 crore and Rs 3.5 lakhs in cash were stolen from Nagina Jewellers at Nahta Market.
The incident came to light on Monday morning and shop owner Narendra Duggad filed a complaint of theft, Yadav said. The owner said his servant Prakash, who hails from Alwar in Rajasthan, was absconding after the incident.
Preliminary investigation suggest the thieves entered the shop on Sunday from the main entrance and committed the theft, the officer said.
CCTV footage showed the accused and his accomplice leaving the shop with a bag.
