Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi and its Human Resource Management (HRM) Programme in the ongoing Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Strategic Performance Management’ in collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under its AICTE Training & Learning (ATAL) Academy, New Delhi highlighted on ‘Strategic Performance Management and Performance Appraisal’ on day two.
In the first technical session for the day, Prof Mary Sheila Bodra, Associate Professor, HRM Programme, XISS presented a comparative analysis between Traditional vs. Modern Performance Appraisal Techniques. She discussed that the modern appraisal practices have seen a remarkable shift towards compatibility with organizational context as opposed to the traditional techniques which had little or no relation to the business objectives.
Moving further, Prof Kumar Mohit Spring, Associate Professor, HRM Programme, XISS enlightened the audience about the finer points of designing an effective Performance Appraisal Form. He stressed on the inclusion of constructive feedback in order to promote motivation and how to adjust performance in order to get the desired organisational standards.
The last session for the day was conducted by Musssarat Hussain, Head Leadership & Functional School, Maruti Suzuki India Limited on Performance Monitoring, Coaching, and Counseling. “In today’s competitive environment, it is very critical for companies to be agile, entrepreneurial, and up to date to establish and maintain themselves as market leaders. At Maruti, with respect to strategic performance management, we believe in building talent rather than buying talent, this is what sets us apart from our competitors,†Hussain stated.
The FDP is centered on developing strategic and analytic skills on performance management among the teaching fraternity and providing practicing managers the necessary and adaptable work environment skills as well as an understanding of financial decision making towards overall organizational sustainability.
The day ended with a brief and a feedback session coordinated by Prof Mrityunjoy, Assistant Professor, HRM, XISS.
