Talktime | ‘I am really fortunate that I got to work in this film’

The actress speaks with Shalini Saksena about her role in 14 Phere, which premiered on Zee 5, her journey from a model to an actor among other things What is 14 Phere about?

14 phere is about a couple in love and how they want to get married much against the wills of their families because if society pressures on how people are expected to be when they enter matrimony.

This couple wants to get married despite being from different cultures and background. How they don't want to go against their parents but want to find a midway as to hiring fake parents so that they can get married and not hurt or trouble anybody.

It's about things going wrong, dealing with more seriously issues in a lighter way. 14 phere is comedy, it's got drama, great music.

What’s your role here?

Zubina is a theatre actor in Delhi. She thinks that she is made for bigger things in life. That's why she takes this challenge by a friend when he comes up to her and asks her to play a fake parent.

She is not older so she has to take it up as a challenge to convince people that she is such a fabulous actor that she can pull off any role and any character. That's how she becomes Vikrant's and Kriti's mother in the film.

How did you come on board for the project?

I came on board because I auditioned for the role and Divyanshu sir really liked my audition and he thought I can really play Zubina and I'm really fortunate that I got to work in this film. All the acclaim that I have got, I'm very happy and grateful for this opportunity.

How much fun did you have during the shoot?

Lots of fun! We were like this big family, we would eat together. There was this big fat Indian wedding aura around us so we were like dancing in Lucknow, Mumbai and wherever we were shooting.

It was like friends working together. Everyone was so cool. Vikrant, Kriti, Divyanshu sir, zee studios production house, they were all so loving and friendly that it was fantastic.

I understand that it is a social drama film. Does it have a message for the viewers?

Of course it does. Like I said before, it's dealing with bigger societal issues in a much lighter manner and actually drawing light towards how even now there are these expectations of two people getting married and how it should actually be looked at and accepted.

You have done films, web and TV. Is there a medium you prefer?

I prefer acting and I love to act. As long as there is meaningful work, there is credible roles given to me and fabulous directors and actors that I get to work with, I actually love all mediums.

From a model to an actor how has the journey been so far?

It's like a dream come true. When I used to model, I used to think when am I going to be a showstopper and now Alhamdullilah I get to live my dream. I get to work with the most amazing people. I'm singing, dancing, acting, performing, hosting.

I'm doing all the fun on social media so I feel that I'm living my dream and accepted in all mediums. That's actually a blessing.
