The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday said its Bhuj unit launched a joint search operation with Jakhau Marine Police near Jakhau port area and seized 49 packets of drugs (suspected heroin) from Sayali creek worth Rs 250 crore.
The BSF said the packaging of the drugs is marked with “Café Gourmet†and "Blue Sapphire 555".
On the intervening night of May 30 and 31, the Coast Guard and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Gujarat Police seized a Pakistani boat near IMBL between Sir Creek and Jakhau Port, and detained all seven Pakistani nationals aboard the boat. During this operation, the boat's crew dumped the drugs in the sea.
“Assessing the situation, BSF Bhuj had foreseen that the drugs thrown into the sea by the Pakistani boat could enter the Indian side by the sea waves coming from the Pakistani side. Soon after this incident, BSF Bhuj was on high alert and launched continuous search operations. As a result, BSF Bhuj successfully recovered 49 drug packets today,†the Public Relations Officer of the BSF Gujarat Frontier said in a statement.
