An international webinar on "Importance and Impact of Odia Culture on Human Society" was held at the PG Department of Odia, Shailabala Women's Autonomous College here on September 17. Principal Prof Gayatri Biswal inaugurated it while Dr Chitta Ranjan Panda presided.
The objective of the webinar was presented by Dr Sanjita Mishra and the guest introduction given by Dr Sugyani Kumari Sahu. Guest Prof Nalini Pati from Australia delivered his speech on health awareness and food hobby of Odia culture that will be helpful for preventing cancers and other fatal diseases.
Dr Rengadhar Horia Naik from Malaysia whose family is established there for more than three generations told about changing of Odia culture and the struggle for saving the traditions abroad.
Tarun Agasti from Canberra, Australia told how Jagannath cult unites Odias all over the world and religious practices of Odisha enhance humanity and morality for human development. Dr Sital Kumar Palbabu from Myanmar spoke on Odisha relationship with Burma and importance of Odias there. Prof Sarat Mohanty from Singapore told on Odisha's maritime trade with world and Odissi dance’s popularity in the foreign soil. Sujeet Jena from Sydney spoke about advantage of ancient
economical traditions of Odisha in present global scenario by re-using of wastage and significance of Odia community.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Narendra Nath Nayak.
