Bhubaneswar BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi on Monday questioned how an IAS officer is allowed to hold three crucial posts in the State Government together.
She pointed out that Vir Vikram Yadav is the Secretary of Works, the Chairman of Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC) and the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
“Is it a mere coincidence or by design,” asked Sarangi, who is a former IAS officer of the Odisha cadre,
She also questioned whether it is not a “huge conflict of interests” as the OBCC is executing the Shreemandir Parikrama Project, the work of which is awarded by SJTA Chief Administrator and the bills are passed and the payments are made by him too.
All norms of financial prudence and the requirements of checks and balances are violated in this case, Sarangi said.
Pointing out that previous Works Secretary Krishan Kumar was also had similar multiple charges under him, she posed, “Should all of us not like to know this?”
