54 deaths reported three months in road mishaps at Seraikela

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Development Deputy Commissioner Praveen Kumar Gagrai and District Transport Officer Dinesh Kumar Ranjan, Additional Municipal Commissioner Adityapur Girja Shankar Prasad, Sub-Divisional Officer Seraikela Seraikela Ram Krishna Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Chandan Kumar Vats a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was called in the presence of other members of the committee.

 

During this, the District Transport Officer shared the information related to the road accidents, the reasons for the accidents and the actions taken in the accident so far this month and last month. During this, he informed the committee members that from April 2022, the compensation amount fixed for the dependents of the dead under Hit and Run has been increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 2,00,000 and for those injured in the accident from Rs 12,500 to Rs 50,000. He said that 11 black spots have been created in the district. In the last three months, 20 accidents took place in March, 18 in April and 20 in May at different places. In which 54 people died and 40 people were injured. During the meeting, the Deputy Development Commissioner gave necessary instructions while discussing in detail various points including controlling road accidents, providing compensation to the victims of the accident, and making people aware about the accident.

 

Instructions given by the Deputy Development Commissioner: Need to put up necessary boards, stand-off signage around the black spots marked, Make sure to get the street lights installed on the road side in the city areas repaired, Executive Officer, while assessing the faulty street lights in the Nagar Panchayat urban area, should provide the list to the department, ensure strict action against the drivers who are illegally parking on the road in industrial establishments and urban areas.
